Secure Sense of Self is an independent education provider delivering holistic, evidence-informed programs that explore puberty, wellbeing and self-worth during the key years of growth and transition.
Our curriculum-aligned sessions support and enrich schools’ delivery of the Victorian Respectful Relationships initiative and comprehensively address key content within the Personal, Social and Community Health strand of the Health and Physical Education learning area, fully aligned with the Victorian Curriculum F–10 (v2.0).

Our founding
MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to empower young people with body literacy, menstrual cycle awareness, and comprehensive sexuality education that nurtures respect, resilience, and a secure sense of self.

We centre agency, self-respect and empowerment.

We partner with schools to deliver age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned programs that honour puberty as a vital rite of passage, reduce stigma, and foster empathy across young people, parents and teachers alike. At the heart of our work is the belief that every child deserves knowledge, dignity, and confidence in their growing bodies and relationships.

Emily Sinclair — Founder &
Educator

Born and raised in Myrtleford, North East Victoria, Emily is a country girl at heart. She now lives just outside of town with her husband and young son.
Community sits at the centre of Emily’s life; growing up in a small rural town has instilled in her a deep appreciation for healthy relationships, connection, and reciprocal community values that continue to guide her work today.

Background
Emily holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences/Master of physiotherapy from La Trobe University, with further studies in Midwifery and Nursing at La Trobe University and the Australian Catholic University. Over the past five years, she has worked closely with women and families as a doula, providing education and support through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. She completed her doula training under the guidance of renowned birth educator Rhea Dempsey.
Alongside her doula work, Emily is a menstrual cycle educator and regularly facilitates menstrual awareness workshops for women aged 18 and over.

Emily’s Why
Emily has a deep interest in the rites of passage that shape
womanhood and family life. Her work centres on helping women navigate these transitions in ways that build confidence, resilience, and self-trust.

Through her work with women, Emily observed how societal messages and cultural conditioning often shape negative perceptions of natural bodily processes such as menstruation, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and motherhood. These observations became the foundation for Secure Sense of Self—a program created to educate and empower young people about their bodies, emotions, and sense of self before they enter these major life transitions.
